SOM Admissions
The University of Mississippi Medical Center and its School of Medicine (SOM) welcome applications from those interested in a career as a physician.
The SOM employs a holistic admissions review that affords each applicant balanced consideration of life experiences, personal attributes and academic metrics to select not only those who can succeed but those who can contribute to the diversity of a medical school class that can serve as a driver of educational excellence. Admissions questions
- Counseling appointments: Pre- and post-application counseling sessions may be requested by contacting the Admissions office at (601) 984-5010.
- Specific questions: Email AdmitMD@umc.edu.
- Application status updates:
- Before receipt of a verified American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) application, phone: (601) 984-5010
- After receipt of a verified a AMCAS application, go to the Applicant Portal.
- Letters of evaluation must be submitted directly to the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) Virtual Evals or Interfolio; see Faculty Letters of Evaluation.
- Transcripts: Official admissions records (such as transcripts) are handled and filed in the Office of Student Records and Registrar, and become the property of the SOM. They cannot be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another school or individual. Correspondence regarding official records should be addressed to:

Preview Days
Preview Days provide prospective students and their families an opportunity to visit the school to learn more about our school, programs, and the admissions process. On Preview Day, you will have the chance to interact with current students and Admissions staff.
Preview Days include an overview presentation, student panel discussions, and a tour (wear comfortable shoes). Once you are registered, expect a confirmation email in the next week and details on parking and location.
